The more I read about Mr. Iwata, the more I realize just how much of an impact he has played on my life. I would not be the person I am today without him. My reconnection with video games and love for writing solely exist because of the contributions he made to the industry. He, together with the late Mr. Yamauchi, is the reason why I game today. Mr. Iwata was more than just a CEO in my eyes – he was responsible for some of my favorite video games series of all time, including Kirby and Super Smash Brothers. Although his final years at Nintendo may not have been the prettiest, it does not discount the countless contributions and massive success that Nintendo experienced under his leadership. With that, I would just like to say to the great Mr. Iwata: thank you for everything you have given to me, not just as a gamer, but also as a person. You are an inspiration, and may you rest in peace.

"On my business card, I am a corporate president. In my mind, I am a game developer. But in my heart, I am a gamer." - the late Satoru Iwata-san, GDC 2005
