Goodbye, Mushroom Man. Hello, Mr. Hood!

A few months ago I posted impressions on what I felt would be my favorite indie game of 2013. Cloudberry Kingdom is a side-scrolling platformer that can be best described as a mix between Mario and WarioWare. And it's amazing.

What you see above is a mode in Cloudberry Kingdom called "Time Crisis." In case you can't tell what's going on, here's the run-down. The player needs to go through as many levels as possible before time runs out. These levels are very short (around five seconds in length) but are packed with obstacles. The more levels you complete, the more obstacles are spawned in future levels. Collecting gems along the way will add time to your clock. Seeing the time go down to less than 5 seconds will give you a heart attack. It's an ingenious concept, and one that Cloudberry Kingdom fully takes advantage of.

The reason why I'm sharing this video with you guys is because I think there's a misconception that Cloudberry Kingdom is just a ridiculous hardcore platformer. And while the game really starts to ramp up in difficulty quickly, it's not the reason why I love this game. I hate frustrating games; Cloudberry Kingdom isn't one of them, but rather a challenging game that tests your reflexes.

So yes, watch me flail my way through 69 levels of Cloudberry Kingdom. I hope you find it quite... entertaining. You can see my previous run-through of the game's "Escalation" mode here.

Cloudberry Kingdom hits PS3 this Tuesday, Steam and X360 this Wednesday, and Wii U eShop this Thursday. Buy it.
