There is absolutely zero reason to support Nintendo right now.

I know, I know. I'm a huge Nintendo fan. I love Nintendo. All I blog about is Nintendo. But with the recent string of events, I can't help but feel Nintendo won't survive this generation, and here's why.

Author's Note: Yes, this is indeed my April Fools blog for 2013. You didn't think I'd turn away from Nintendo that easily, huh? April Fools lets me post whatever the hell I want without giving two sh*ts, which is always a lot of fun. This post is, of course, making fun of all the crazy things people say about Nintendo going out of business. If you want to check out last year's April Fools blog where I make fun of all the ridiculous predictions people are making for Smash Bros. 4 characters, click here.

PS4 and X720 will destroy Wii U.

Some people will say graphics isn't everything. I call bullsh*t. Just look at the games that defined the PS3/X360/Wii generation. The Mass Effect series, a graphical showcase. The Uncharted series, a graphical showcase. The Bioshock series, a graphical showcase. Clearly, graphics means everything nowadays, and if Nintendo is struggling to keep up with even today's graphical standard, I find it hard to believe that the Wii U will ever be as successful as its competition. A decade ago, "power" was irrelevant. Now it's everything.

No one likes Mario anymore.

Back in the Nintendo 64 days, everyone loved Super Mario 64. It has a 94 Metascore on Metacritic. People bought N64's just so they could play Mario 64. Today, things are different. The Wii U launch with New Super Mario Bros. U. It has a 84 Metascore on Metacritic. Needless to say, it failed to move systems. Prior to the Wii U's launch, Reggie said that the reason 3DS launched so poorly was because of the lack of Mario. How will he explain Wii U's poor launch, then? The desire for Mario has obviously disappeared, and if Nintendo's main mascot is dying, there is little the company can do besides leaving the gaming industry.

Touch screen is useless.

The DS took off because at the time the idea of a "touch screen" was novel. It was a new idea, a different way to play. That was almost a decade ago. Now, Nintendo is trying to make the Wii U sound edgy and innovative with the same exact touch screen technology it used in 2004. Seriously, the last thing we need is another touch screen device, especially when the iPhone and iPad do it much better. Without its touch screen gimmick, there really is no reason to buy a Wii U.

Vita/PS4 connection is far more impressive.

To make matters worse, Sony has created a way for Vita and PS4 to interact in a way that surpasses the Wii U's capabilities. The Wii U contains last-gen technology, a single-touch resistive touch screen, and sub-HD display on the second screen. Vita/PS4 is much more high tech; it contains next-gen technology, a multi-touch capacitive touch screen, and a beautiful OLED display on the second screen. Now there's absolutely no reason to buy a Wii U, especially with things on the market that does it better than Nintendo does.

Nintendo is for children.

And alas, my final point. Wii U is for children. There's just no way to deny that. For years, I've been embarrassed to possess my love for Nintendo in fear of being ridiculed, because in my head I knew it was true. Look at Mario and compare it to Uncharted or Halo. There's a clear difference. Mario is for kids. Nintendo is for kids. I've grown up now, and grown ups don't play Nintendo. And seeing all the news coming in about Nintendo's failure to do things right, there's no time better than now to move on to bigger and better things. There is absolutely no reason for anyone in the entirety of the world to support Nintendo.
