Here are 3 little things you can do to pass the time with your 3DS

If you have a 3DS and you don’t have such a great interest in Pac-Man, then chances are that your 3DS has been lacking some good play-time. Why not use this time to really get to know your 3DS? I did, and I pretty much milked the juice out of it. Here are a few things that I found quite fun about the 3DS that I didn’t know before:

PLAY WITH THE GAME NOTES

A small hidden gem in the 3DS is the “Game Notes”. At first, I didn’t really bother with the seemingly useless built-in “app”, but with nothing else to do, I decided to go ahead and play around with it. It turns out that this thing makes a pretty good drawing app! Using the stylus as a drawing pen, you could make some pretty cool pics and save them onto your SD card. Unfortunately, there are only 3 colors to choose from (4 if you include white), but this app will keep you entertained for several long minutes. Perhaps in the future, we might see the Game Notes evolve into a real drawing app.

BROWSE FOR 3D SCREENSHOTS

The 3DS’ internet browser can do many things, one of which is downloading 3D screenshots to view on your 3DS screen. Many developers have posted 3D screenshots of upcoming games on their websites for such viewability. Too lazy to find them all? A nifty website called “3ds-screenshot.com” contains most of the screenshots that can be viewed directly on your 3DS screen (the website is even made to be viewed on the 3DS). Each screenshot gives you a glimpse of what games are coming (and some that are already out), and you can save each screenshot onto your SD card so you can view them offline. Though the screenshots are few, let’s hope that more will come in the future.

MAKE A GIANT AR CARD

Nintendo recently announced their very own “Giant AR Card” for 200 coins for Club Nintendo members. Why not make your own? I admit, I’m not one who wants to spend hours drawing out a giant card and waste a bunch of Sharpies. So what do I do? I print a huge one off of the giant printer at my dad’s workplace. If you can find a way to print huge posters somewhere, perhaps you should try the same thing. You can find a printable image of the giant AR card here. And if you’re really hardcore, go ahead and draw it yourself. No one’s stopping you! Or you can do it the official way and just buy the thing off Club Nintendo…
