Here are some N64 games that should be remade in 3D...

Today, Japan gets Starfox 64 3D, making it the title the third Nintendo 64 remake for the 3DS after Ocarina of Time and Rayman. But why stop there? Okay, I know most of us are sick and tired of Nintendo 64 remakes because the N64 really isn’t that old. But it doesn’t stop us from wondering. What other N64 games would look great on the 3DS? Well, here is we go: top 5 (kinda) games that I WANT on the 3DS.

NOTE: ALL TITLES ARE BASED ON ONLY MY OPINIONS. OTHER OPINIONS WILL BE DIFFERENT. THIS LIST IS ALSO BY NO MEANS A REPRESENTATION OF THE BEST GAMES ON THE N64 SYSTEM.

5. Donkey Kong 64

Until Donkey Kong 64, we’ve only seen Donkey Kong in 2D (okay, pre-rendered 3D sprites, but it was still in a 2D world). But Rare brought together a pretty decent game that gave us a whole new view of Donkey Kong’s world. But putting Donkey Kong in such a world was also risky; Donkey Kong was a graphically complex character, and the end result was a bit chunky. But despite the fact that the characters looked abnormally distorted, the game still played extremely well. Indeed, the only thing the game really needed to change was its strange graphics to make it a spectacular game. Being one of the only Donkey Kong games NOT available on the Virtual Console, it would be great to remake DK64 and put into a couple of new hands. Just give it and graphical makeover, and it’s good to go!

4. Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness

Back when Castlevania for the N64 was released, it was well-received by critics and gamers alike. Later that year, Konami released another version of the game, entitled “Legacy of Darkness,” which included the original Castlevania 64 (with extras) and a prequel. Unfortunately, the controls in this game were a bit clunky, but that was probably due to the player being so tall and quirky. With the 3DS, problems like this could be easily fixed, and the game could once again feel as fresh as a daisy. Plus, the 3D effect could give us the chills that the original couldn’t give us (even though it heavily used fog). An enhanced remake of Legacy of Darkness would be outstanding.

3. Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie

It’s safe to say that we all want Banjo-Threeie, but Rare decided to give us Nuts and Bolts, which, though it wasn’t a bad game at all, disappointed many Banjo fans. Being that Rare still publishes games for the DS, why not get going on the 3DS? Though it is still highly unlikely that Rare will go ahead and do this, it doesn’t change the fact that much of the Banjo-Kazooie fan base is still with Nintendo. Pushing the first two Banjo games onto the 3DS will be instant money for Rare.

2. The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask

If you’ve seen the Majora’s Mask article, you would know why I think this game should have been remade instead of Ocarina of Time. Majora’s Mask seemed to be forgotten and left alone. A 3D remake of Majora’s Mask would not only get those who haven’t played it before a chance to get their hands on the OoT sequel, but the 3D would also change the way we see the those amazing graphical effects that made Majora’s Mask so epic.

1. Conker’s Bad Fur Day

One of the most underappreciated game of its day, Conker’s Bad Fur Day was released late in the N64’s lifespan. What Rare did with this game was both hilarious, graphically amazing, and epic. This platformer/shooter/flight simulator would not only look great in 3D (3D blood! 3D piss! 3D… um… other things?), but it would be able to utilize the gyroscope in a ton of different ways. And who wouldn’t want to beat the crap out of their friends in an all out multiplayer rampage? It just doesn’t get any better than this. Plus, since the game is based heavily on cut scenes, you don’t even have to play the game to enjoy its beauty! (okay, maybe you do.) Heck, just give us Live and Reloaded and we'll be on the move.
